This Privacy Policy explains how Best Laid Plans collects, uses, and protects information when you subscribe to my publication, sign up for my email list, or visit my Substack website at emilyrayburn.substack.com. Best Laid Plans is published by Raysort Studios, LLC. In this policy, “I,” “me,” and “my” refer to Raysort Studios, LLC.

I keep this simple: I collect the minimum I need to send you my writing, and I do not sell your information to anyone.

What I collect

• Your email address when you subscribe to my publication or join my email list.

• Your name, if you choose to provide it.

• Comments and replies you post or send, along with any information you include in them.

• Basic analytics, such as which posts are opened or clicked and general information about the device or browser you use. This is collected automatically by the tools I use and helps me understand what readers find useful.

• Payment information, only if you choose to become a paid subscriber. I never see or store your full card details; those are handled by the payment processor.

I collect this information when you subscribe through Substack, sign up through a form on my website, or interact with my posts and emails. Some information is collected automatically by the platforms and tools I use.

The tools I use to run this publication

I rely on trusted third-party services to publish, send email, and host my website. When you subscribe or sign up, your information is processed by these services under their own privacy policies:

• Substack, which hosts my publication and delivers posts by email and on the web.

• Stripe, which processes payments if you become a paid subscriber.

I encourage you to review the privacy policies of these services, since your data is also subject to their practices.

How I use your information

I use your information to:

• Send you my posts, newsletters, and occasional updates.

• Respond to your comments, replies, and messages.

My writing is intended for a general adult audience of parents and caregivers. This publication is not directed to children under 16, and I do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided me with personal information, please contact me and I will delete it.

A note about writing about my family

I write personal essays that sometimes reference my own children and family life. That content reflects my choices as the author. It does not involve collecting or publishing personal information about you or your family.

I may update this policy from time to time. When I do, I will change the “Last updated” date above. Significant changes may be noted in a post or email.
